Transferring files from local to remote Linux server

On Windows, Linux and Mac (using FileZilla)

Download, install, and start FileZilla. Enter the following for a new connection:

  • Host: rnd.scrc.nyu.edu
  • Username: <your Stern ID>
  • Password: <your password>
  • Port: 22

Click Quickconnect.

On the left, you should see your local computer, while on the right, your Linux homedir.

Drag-and-drop files to transfer between local and the Linux server.

On Windows (winSCP)

First, download and install winSCP.

Start winSCP and create a “new site”.

Fill in the remote server name, rnd.scrc.nyu.edu, and your Stern login credentials.

Click Manage→ Save As… to save this “new site” as “rnd”.

Click OK. Click Login.

The left side is your local PC, while the right side is your Linux machine homedir.

Drag and drop files from left to right, and vice versa to transfer files.
